About

Kunska is a competency mapping platform for teams that run on expertise — engineering, design, legal, consulting, research. Instead of an HR form nobody updates, the team runs a facilitated Market of Skills session: everyone posts what they offer, what they'd teach, and what they want to learn.

The result is a living matrix leads use for staffing, growth and hiring. Every level in it was set by the person who holds the skill and seen by the people who work beside them, so the map stays honest — and because the team owns it, the team keeps it current.

Skills, mapped by the people who have them. That is the whole idea, and everything in Kunska — the matrix, the session, the gap views, the reports — exists to make it easy to do once a quarter and useful every week.

Our Name

Kunska comes from the Nordic words for knowledge — kundskab in Danish, kunskap in Swedish. A team's knowledge is spread across the people in it, and most of it is never written down. Kunska is where it gets written down, by the people who hold it. Say it KUN·ska.

Who Builds It

Kunska is built by Komforan ApS in Copenhagen, founded by Henning Kjær, who brings decades of experience leading technical teams. Most notably, Henning is the father of Tech Academy in a major Danish company, where the program supported the growth of more than 400 developers and technical staff. The pattern behind Kunska comes straight from that work: the teams that knew what they knew were the teams that mapped it themselves.

How We Work

We say what a thing is. A matrix is a matrix, a session is a session, a gap is a gap. The levels are the team's own words for what they can do, teach and want to learn — not a framework handed down from outside.

Whether you lead an engineering group, a design studio, a legal practice or a research lab, the question is the same: who can do what, who could teach it, and where the next hire should go. Kunska answers it from evidence instead of from whoever spoke last.
