Everything you need to get the most out of Kunska
Platform Overview
Kunska maps what a team can do, wants to share, and wants to learn. A team keeps one competency matrix, fills it in from a Market of Skills session it runs itself, and uses the map for staffing, growth plans and hiring gaps. Leads, facilitators and members all work in the same matrix, live.
Getting Started: Your Skills Profile
Right after creating an account you are asked about three things: the skills you have, the strengths you are best at, and what you want to learn. These power the rest of the platform — when you are added to a competency matrix it is seeded from your profile automatically, with strengths rated at expert level, skills at proficient, and learning goals added as growth targets. You can update all three lists at any time from your profile settings.
Setting Up Your Team
Start by creating a team — that is the group of people you map skills with, and everything else hangs off it. Give it a name, invite colleagues by email (people without an account can sign up from the invitation), and you are ready to build a competency matrix together. Whoever creates a team is its owner. Owners and admins manage the team: they invite people, change roles, and create the team's matrix and sessions. Members can view the team and take part in its matrix.
Organisations are optional. They are a grouping layer for people who run several teams — add one when you want skills to roll up across teams, or nest departments to mirror a company hierarchy. A single team does not need one.
Competency Management
Define competencies using our flexible framework builder. Each competency can include multiple proficiency levels, descriptive indicators, and associated learning resources. Group competencies into skill areas to create structured development matrices that give your team a clear picture of expectations at every level.
Market of Skills
The Market of Skills is our interactive session format that brings teams together to share knowledge, give feedback, and identify growth opportunities collaboratively. Facilitators can create sessions, invite participants, and guide the group through structured activities designed to surface insights about team strengths and development areas.
Tracking Progress
Use the built-in dashboards and reporting tools to monitor individual and team progress over time. Visual competency matrices make it easy to spot trends, identify high performers, and pinpoint areas that need additional support. Export reports to share insights with stakeholders or integrate with your existing HR systems.
Integrations and API
Kunska integrates with the tools your team already uses. Connect your learning management system, HR platform or communication tools to keep the matrix and your other systems in step. Our API documentation covers how to build a custom integration when you need one.
